Tour of Royal Terrace Pier
Royal Terrace Pier was built and designed by J. B. Redman in 1842-44 or thereabouts. It stands on cast iron Doric columns. The architrave and frieze (deck level and above) were replaced with glass fibre in the mid-1970s. Over the years, the Pier has played host to the arrival and departures of countless Royals and visiting dignitaries. It was named as 'Royal' in 1863 after Princess Alexandra arrived there from Denmark to marry the Prince of Wales. Come and join us on this interesting tour and experience the sights and sounds of the river from a location which is rarely open to the public.
