Pinewood Infant School
The original Pinewood Infant School was the subject of an arson attack in March 2004. The new, RIBA Award-shortlisted Pinewood Infant School accommodates 90 pupils in three classrooms, with a resource provision for language impairment and a 24-place Early Years Unit. The solution was to arrange the accommodation in three linear forms, perpendicular to the existing block, creating a courtyard oasis in a robust neighbourhood. Pitched roofs enable the teaching spaces and hall to use the volume created to provide a calming and spacious learning environment.
